I am 44 years old and I have encountered a wide variety of teachers; in the public school system, college instructors, physical trainers and on-the-job trainers. I have found that true teachers are a rare and special breed. There are only one or two others in my life to date that rank as high as Marc Durrance. His love and enthusiasm for music is tempered perfectly with professionalism, patience and calmness. Although his skill level could be intimidating, his humility never makes me feel inferior.

I am 16 years old and I play the electric bass. I’ve been taking lessons from Marc Durrance for almost 4 years now and I would have to say that I wouldn't be anywhere near as skilled as I am now if I had not taken these lessons. Of all the teachers I have ever had, in school and out, Marc has taught me the most. He is very kind, friendly, and he has taught me at my own pace, never ceasing to leave me awed by his musical abilities. He is one of the few real teachers I have ever had, showing patience and giving me great confidence within myself. Because of his teaching, I am able to jam with professional adult musicians, who have been playing for longer than I have been alive, and be respectfully invited back to jam again another time. Although lessons cost money, I feel that the knowledge I have obtained is truly priceless. The Music Den is the perfect learning environment for musicians of all skill levels. I feel so comfortable there. The vibe of the whole place just lets me relax, learn, and have a great time all at once. Even after I master the bass, I plan on sticking around The Music Den.
